Becoming Gimelli Importing:

The journey began when our daughter, Lisa, fell in love with all things Italian.  She enrolled into Italian Language classes, flew out to Tuscany with friends, and traveled to Rome for business.  Her love of all things Italy soon developed into loving an Italian!  She married Vittorio Gimelli from Genoa, Italy on a beautiful snowy day in Michigan in December 2008 and had wedding number two in August 2009 in Genoa for Vittorio’s family and his Mamma, Annamaria.

David and Pat, Lisa’s parents, and her brother Ryan, and his wife Katie, traveled to Italy for the wedding in Genoa.  As a family we were able to see all of Genoa, and visit Rome, Florence, and a small village in Piedmont called Voltaggio.  While celebrating the merge of our two families, we developed this concept of bringing small-production, high-quality wine to the United States at an affordable price. We began visiting many local and regional authentic Italian vineyards. Gimelli Importing was born May of 2010. Bridging the gap between countries, Vittorio assists in the Italian relations and David works on licensing and legalization.

Since our inception, we’ve worked diligently at locating and obtaining exceptional varietals throughout Italy, and have brought the Italian ambiance to the United States for many to enjoy the pleasurable flavors of authentic Italian wine. This continues to be our family’s quest and mission.
